Meghalaya Election Results: NPP Leads on 27 Seats, BJP 7

The ruling National People’s Party (NPP) in Meghalaya was leading in 27 of the 60 Assembly constituencies of Meghalaya while the UDP and Congress are ahead in 6 segments each, and BJP in 7.

In the South Tura constituency, Chief Minister and National People’s Party (NPP) leader Conrad Sangma is currently leading.

As per exit polls by various news channels, the northeastern state is heading for a hung Assembly with no party crossing the halfway mark in the 60-member house. The ruling National People’s Party (NPP), as per the aggregate of four exit polls, may end up with 20 seats. The BJP, an NPP ally in power but which fought the elections separately, may increase its tally from 2 to 6.
