They also accused hospital authorities of demanding a bill of Rs 60,000 and of not handing them the baby till the amount was paid.
The deceased, family members alleged, gave birth to a baby girl at 10:30 am on Friday (Sep 21) while she died around 5:30 in the evening while being shifted to another private hospital in the city.

They accused Dulumoni Borgohain, one of the doctors of the hospital who was looking after the deceased woman, of medical negligence.
“The doctor named Dulumoni Borgohain was looking after my wife. My wife died due to medical negligence. There hospital doesn’t even have an ICU. But they didn’t inform me about this before hand. It was only after my wife’s condition deteriorated that they asked us to take her to another hospital,” Sabita’s husband Dipen Das said, adding that the hospital authorities refused to hand over the baby to the family members and asked them to first clear a bill of Rs 60,000.
It was only after the protest and the subsequent police action that hospital authorities handed over the baby girl to the family.
