Dibrugarh: In a tragic incident a massive fire broke out in Assam’s Dibrugarh town killing five people of a family. The fire broke out around 1:30 am on Saturday.
The deceased has been identified as Bishal Sonar, Maya Devi, Shivu Sonar, Shankar Sonar and Nunu. All the five members of the family were burnt alive.
Though the cause of fire is yet to be ascertained, but locals said cylinders inside the house blasted after which the fire spread evenly to nearby houses.
Meanwhile Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal expressed grief over the devastating incident and instructed the Dibrugarh’s DC to look into the matter.
The CM also announced an ex-gratia payment of Rs. 4 lakh for each of the deceased family members.
