Guwahati: Assam’s pride and Olympic Bronze medallist Lovlina Borgohain received a grand welcome in Guwahati on Thursday. Later during the day, Lovlina was felicitated by the Assam Government at a function held in Srimanta Sankaradeva Kalakshetra.
Assam chief minister Dr. Himanta BiswaSarma who also went to receive Lovina at the airport handed over a cheque of Rs. 1 crore to her at the function.
The Chief Minister proposed to appoint her as a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) in Assam Police.

CM Sarma further announced Rs 1 lakh per month as a scholarship to Lovlina till the next Olympics as a mark of appreciation.
A boxing academy would also be set up at her native Sarupathar for Rs 25 crore and a road in Guwahati would be named after her.
The Government of Assam offered Rs 10 lakh each to 4 coaches who helped Lovlina in her journey.
