As Odisha polling dates draw near and campaign efforts intensify, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma will be visiting Odisha on May 9 to campaign for Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) for the upcoming Lok Sabha and assembly elections.
It has been reported that CM Sarma will address public gatherings in Malkangiri, Khallikote & Chitrakonda.
Assam Chief Minister on Tuesday cast his vote in Amingaon polling station for Barpeta Parliamentary Constituency.
Speaking to reporters, CM Sarma on Tuesday said, “I am sure people will support a Bharat which will become a vishwa guru and achieve its goal in the ‘amrit kaal. ”
He said Assam has witnessed enthusiasm among youth and elderly alike for the elections and this “euphoria is centred around the unprecedented development in the last decade.”
“People have come out in large numbers to participate in the electoral process in the last phase of voting in Assam. More than 80% turnout was recorded in the first two phases and I am sure that would be repeated today,” he told media persons after casting his vote.
Stating that the three-phase in the state was extremely peaceful, he said no untoward incidents occurred since the announcement of the poll dates.
The peaceful election in the state signified that Assam has been on the path of development,” the chief minister said.
Meanwhile, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari is also slated to visit Odisha on May 9 to campaign for BJP.
Gadkari will be campaigning in Puri and Krushnaprasad.
Date of poll in Odisha: May 13, May 20, May 25 and June 1.
The first phase of election in Odisha will take place in Berhampur, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, and Koraput on May 13.
