Kharguli Rave Party: Drugs Supplier Vishal Choudhury tries to escape; injured in Police firing


Guwahati: In a shocking development in the Kharguli Rave Party Case, prime accused Vishal Choudhury was shot by Guwahati Police while he tried to escape police custody on Saturday night.

Choudhury has been shot on his left leg and has been admitted to Gauhati Medical College and Hospital.

Vishal Choudhury was arrested by Guwahati police in Delhi on August 28.

Vishal Choudhury had allegedly supplied drugs for a rave party at a residence in Guwahati’s Kharguli Hills last month.

Vishal has been brought to Guwahati by police and is being kept in Latasil Police Station for questioning. According to reports, Vishal was the supplier of Cocaine from Delhi. He was arrested on the confession of Ashok Barman, one of the main accused.

On 13 August, following a tip, Guwahati Police had raided a rave drugs party in Kharguli area, near Don Bosco Institute and arrested 18 people. The party was organised on the third floor of Kharguli Riviera Apartments and guests were from affluent families.

During the raid, cocaine, 3 types of weed & opium were recovered from the premises. In connection with the seizure, the police arrested 18 people, who were present at the rave party.

The rave party was organised  at the residence of businessman Vikash Jain.

The accused claimed they gathered in the apartment to celebrate the birthday of one Amit Baruah.

A case was registered at the Latasil police station and the police started an investigation which led to the arrest of the cocaine supplier Bishal Choudhury in Delhi.
