Guwahati: The Kaziranga National Park has been opened for the tourists for the year 2019-20.
The park was opened by Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal. Also present in the occasion were Parimal Suklabaidya (Minister for Forest & Environment), Atul Bora (Agriculture Minister), and Kesab Mahanta (Water Resources Minister) and Bimal Bora (MLA). The event saw participation from local residents, NGOs and government officials.
Due to the devastating floods this year, the opening of Kaziranga National Park got delayed from its normal opening time of 1st October.
Keeping the safety of the tourists in mind only jeep safari has been opened for some areas of the Bagori Range and Kohora Range. The elephant safari has to wait, as many areas of the Kaziranaga National Park have been damaged by the flood waters.
