GUWAHATI, Dec 27: Karam Singh Trust will honour renowned journalist and litterateur Homen Borgohain and veteran singer Surya Das with Karam Singh Janambhumi Award-2019.
The award which has been constituted in the name of Assam Agitation martyr Karam Singh contains Rs 50 thousand, a citation, a memento, xoraai and an angabastra.
It needs to be mentioned that Karam Singh was a resident of Barkola village under Nagaon district who was martyred in 1983 during Assam Agitation.
The award will be presented to the distinguished personalities at a function to be held on Feb 8 at Srimanta Sankardeva University auditorium in Nagaon.
“Noted Vaishnavite scholar Dr. Naren Kalita and Sankardeva University VC Dr. Kandarpa Kumar Deka will attend the event as the guest of honour and special guest respectively,” stated a press release issued by Dr. Nanda Singh Barkola and Jagsdish Singh on behalf of the trust.
