Kaji Nemu declared as state fruit of Assam, announces Agriculture Minister Atul Bora

Assam’s ‘Kaji Nemu’ – Citrus Lemon has been declared as the State Fruit of Assam, the Cabinet announced.

The announcement, made on the floor of the House, revealed that the esteemed title now belongs to ‘Citrus Limon’ ( Kaji Nemu).

On the seventh day of the budget session of the Assam Legislative Assembly, Agriculture Minister Atul Bora informed the state cabinet has decided to declare the citrus lemon the state fruit.

Taking to X Bora wrote, “Delighted to share that Assam’s Kaji Nemu (Citrus Limon), known for its unique aroma and flavor, has been declared as the “State Fruit” by the Cabinet. Grateful to Hon’ble CM Dr.@himantabiswa for this visionary move. Excited about the prospects this initiative holds for our farmers and the agricultural sector.”

Informing the same, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said, “Our Government has decided to declare Kaji Nemu (Citrus Limon) as the State Fruit of Assam. With its unique aroma & antioxidant properties, Assam lemon has enriched our local cuisines. With today’s announcement, it is set to shine on the global fruit map, boosting self-dependency & production.”
