JSF Assam Prant’s signature campaign advocates population control law

GUWAHATI: Jansankhya Samadhan Foundation’s (JSF) Assam Prant in collaboration with the Morigaon District Committee and Jagiroad Constituency Committee on Thursday organised a signature campaign at Burha Mayong supporting enactment of a strict population control law.

The signature campaign was carried out at the inauguration of Bisram Ghar(Rest House) for elderly people.

Supporting the cause, former President of Asom Sahitya Sabha Dr. Lakshmi Nandan Bora, Vice-President of Asom Sahitya Sabha Mrinalini Devi, author Diganta Biswa Sarma, Assam Prakashan Parishad Vice-Chairman Sumanta Chaliha, AIDC Vice-Chairman Jitu Talukdar, Indian Forest Service officer Anurag Singh, social worker Gopal Jalan, journalist Dalim Phukan and local organiser Dipen Kathar among other dignitaries signed in the campaign.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Lakshmi Nandan Bora said “In order to get relief from all sorts of pollution, population control should be taken into prime consideration by the Government of India.”

Mrinalini Devi appealed the people to come out and play an important role in protecting the earth.

“JSF NE Chairman Sailendra Pandey, JSF Assam Prant organizing Secretary Subhajit Choudhury, JSF Assam Prant President Siva Prasad Sarma, JSF Mahila Shakti President and Renowned singer Ruby Singha, littérateur and retired Professor Bhanu Sarma, JSF Jagi Road committee, JSF Morigaon District Committee among others were also present at the signature campaign,” a press release stated.
