GUWAHATI: In an utterly inhuman act, a security guard of a Jorhat hospital stole gold earrings from a deceased patient.
The incident which was caught on CCTV cameras took place at Jorhat Christian Medical Centre on Thursday. The security guard identified as David Bharadwaj took away the gold ornaments from the body of a woman who passed away at the hospital.
The 70-year old Duleswari Borah of Baghchung area was admitted to Jorhat Mission Hospital on Thursday. However, she breather her last at the hospital.
“The incident took place when family members were busy in arranging the vehicle. Ar that moment, he (Security Guard) took away the ornaments. We came to know about it when her last rites were about to perform today morning,” said a family member.
Angry family members created a tense situation at Jorhat Mission Hospital demanding action against the culprit.
Meanwhile, based on the CCTV footage, Jorhat Police has arrested the accused security guard.
