Jonai Police arrests two notorious drug dealers

Guwahati:  Jonai Police arrested two notorious drug dealers on Saturday from Jonai Ruskin gate. Following a tip-off, the Assam Police team, led by Jonai SDPO Bhimkanta Pegu conducted a search operation at one of the drug peddlers’ residence, identified as Ananta alias Captain Tayung (27) and nabbed him with banned drugs.

Ananta alias Captain Tayung is the son of Lokeshwar Tayung, a resident of Rauwad Dolong, Jonai. The SDPO in-charge of the area has been cracking down on illicit trade on banned drugs at various times in the sub-division with a zero tolerance policy against drugs.

On July 30, SDPO Pegu had arrested two drug addicts and their suppliers and registered them under Section 75/20 and U / S 21 (b) / 27 (a) NDPS Act and sent them to jail. Based on the confession of these two drug addicts, the Jonai Police team was able to search the house of Tyung in advance and could recover a large quantity of banned drugs. And today, in a re-operation, the drug dealer Tyung was arrested. According to the locals, Tayung has been doing this business for a long time.

Krishna Kanta Sharma, Assistant Sub-Inspector, Jonai Police Station said that Tayung was involved in drug trafficking and was destroying the environment in Jonai. 

It is to be noted that SDPO Bhimkanta Pegu along with the team of Jonai police station, has been able to carry such operations from time to time.
