International Shiva Mahotsav, Maha Shivaratri Mela starts in Sivadol

GUWAHATI/SIVASAGAR: The International Shiva Mahotsav 2020 and the Maha Shivaratri Mela has started at the historical Sivadol temple premises in Sivasagar, Assam.

Tourists and devotees from all over the state have started reaching Sivadol for the festivities.

The festival was inaugurated by Assam Governor Prof. Jagdish Mukhi on Thursday. Keeping in view the Sivasagar district administration has announced Friday as a holiday.

“We are getting ready to organise the International Shiv Mahotsav at the lawns of historic Siva Dol. The four-day Shiva Mahotsav will be simultaneously celebrated with the Maha Shivaratri Mela – the main attraction,” said one of the organizers.

“The Shiva Mahotsav event will have a fair and cultural programme on 21, 22, 23 February where artistes from other parts of India and Nepal will take part. We will also have performances by various religious and cultural organizations of the Northeast who have already arrived,” stated one of the committee members.
