India Today exit poll: 20% want Himanta Biswa Sarma as CM, 19% want Sonowal

Assam: Sonowal, Himanta Biswa Sarma extend greetings on Bhai Dooj GUWAHATI: On the occassion of Bhai Dooj, Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal extended his greetings to the citizens. “Happy #BhaiDooj, Bhai Phota, Bhatri Dwitiya. May the sacred festival reaffirm the strong ties of love and affection between brothers and sisters,” Sonowal said in a tweet. Assam health, finance and education minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma also took to twitter to convey Bhatri Dwitiya wishes. “I would like to extend my heartfelt best wishes to all the Assamese Gorkhas on the occasion of the holy Chad Bhatri Dwitiya,” Himanta Biswa Sarma writes. BhaiDooj, Bhai Phota or Bhatri Dwitiya is a Hindu festival which celebrates the bond between a brother and a sister. Bhai Dooj also marks the end of Diwali festivities. Bhai Dooj is observed on the Dwitiya Tithi, Shukla Paksha of the Kartik month.

GUWAHATI: According to the India Today-My Axis India exit poll, 20% respondents want Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma as the chief minister of Assam. On the other hand, 19% want Sarbananda Sonowal as chief minister.

 Around 16% respondents are in the favour of Congress leader and Lok Sabha MP Gaurav Gogoi as Assam chief minister, says the poll.

This exit poll predicted 75-85 seats for BJP and its allies.

On the other hand, the exit polls by Republic-CNX predicted 74-84 seats for the BJP-led alliance in Assam.

According to Republic-CNX, Congress-led grand alliance will get between 40 to 50.

Assam Assembly election was held in three phases on March 27, April 1 and April 6. The votes will be counted on May 2.
