ICC U19 Cricket World Cup 2022: India Beat England By 4 Wickets In Final To Win Record-Extending 5th Title

Guwahati: India lifted the Under-19 World Cup title for record fifth time after defeating England by 4 wickets in the final at the Sir Vivian Richards Cricket Stadium North Sound, Antigua on Saturday (February 5).

Despite Covid-19 pandemic hurting their preparations and leading to an apparent lack of hype about the team, Yash Dhull led Under-19 team men finished with an unbeaten run in the West Indies.

Earlier, India had won the U19 World Cup in 2000, 2008, 2012 and 2018.

Yash Dhull now joins the illustrious list of captains – Mohammad Kaif (2000), Virat Kohli (2008), Unmukt Chand (2012), Prithvi Shaw (2018) – who have won the ICC Under-19 World Cup in the past.

MATCH SUMMARY:

While batting first England were bowled out for 189 runs in 44.5 overs.

Raj Bawa scalped five wickets (31/5) and Ravi Kumar took four wickets (34/4).

India chased the target of 190 runs in 47.4 overs.

Shaik Rasheed and Nishant Sindhu scored 50 runs each while Raj Bawa scored 35 runs.
