GUWAHATI, December 26: Burying the hatchet over his reported remark which sparked outrage among the Kalita community, heartthrob singer Zubeen Garg said today he sometimes says things he shouldn’t but reiterated the remarks were unintended.
Extending an olive branch to the Kalita community, Zubeen said he is everybody’s Zubeen Da and that they will unitedly protest against the amended Citizenship Act.
“I am Assam’s Zubeen Da. Sometimes I say things which I am not supposed to say. I request everyone not to take it personally,” he said sitting alongside members of the All Assam Kalita Janagosthi Students’ Union(AAKJSU) at Mangoldoi today.
Terming the incident unfortunate, the singer urged everyone to focus on the identity of being an Assamese.
“Irrespective of caste, creed and religion, residents of Assam should take forward the struggle against the amended Citizenship Act,” Garg added.
Meanwhile, All Assam Kalita Janagosthi Students Union(AAKJSU) said they didn’t have any kind of aversion towards the popular singer.
