Guwahati: A case has been filed against Bollywood singer and actor ‘Yo Yo Honey Singh’ (Hirdesh Singh) by his wife Shalini Talwar under the Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act. The case was registered on August 3.
Delhi’s Tis Hazari court has issued a notice to the singer and sought his response on the domestic violence allegations, news agency ANI reported.
Honey Singh and his wife Shalini Talwar have been married for more than 10 years. The two had dated for several years before tying the knot in 2011. She was introduced in public for the first time in 2014 at an episode of a reality show named ‘India’s Rawstar’.
A decade into their marriage, Talwar alleged she was ‘subjected to numerous incidents of physical abuse, verbal, mental abuse and emotional abuse’, at the hands of Hirdesh Singh (his real name), his parents and his younger sister. Talwar has also accused Singh of alcoholism and adultery.
In the plea, Talwar has stated how she was physically assaulted by Singh over the last 10 years. She further said that there is evidence to show various acts of domestic violence perpetrated upon her, requesting the court to issue orders against him under the Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act, 2005.
While the singer is yet to comment on the matter, a source tells us, at the time of going to press, that the family is planning to issue a press statement. However, when we contacted his manager, he says there are no plans to release a statement from his side anytime soon.
