GUWAHATI, Nov 19: New York Police have arrested a homeless “mentally ill” man for killing three persons in three separate stabbing attacks, reports said.

New York Police arrested Ramon Rivera, a 51-year-old man “mentally ill and homeless man”, in connection with the attacks.

The first stabbing incident took place around 8.30 am local time on Monday near the Hudson River in which a 36-year-old construction worker was killed.

A 68-year-old man was the second person to die when he was stabbed fatally while fishing in the East River while a 36-year-old woman, who was stabbed multiple times near the United Nations headquarters, later died in hospital.

Shockingly, the killer attacked without any provocation and even did not speak to his victims.

Robbery was also not the motive for the crimes, reports said.

“No words exchanged. No property taken. He just walked up to them and began to attack them with the knives,” The Times of India quoted Joseph Kenny, the New York police department’s chief of detectives, as saying.
