GUWAHATI, Jan 7: Two children tested positive for the Human Metapneumovirus (HMPV) in Nagpur, Maharashtra, taking the total number of cases of the respiratory illness to seven.
The two kids, aged seven and 14, were admitted to a private hospital on Jan 3 after they complained of fever and cough.
After they were made to undergo tests, they were confirmed to have been infected with HMPV.
While two minors tested positive for the virus in Bengaluru, a two-month-old boy admitted to a private hospital in Ahmedabad was also detected with the virus.
Two other cases were reported from Tamil Nadu.
It may be mentioned here that the HMPV infection was first detected in the Netherlands in 2001 while several cases were earlier detected in India.
