Himanta Biswa Sarma urges Guwahati residents to maintain caution

GUWAHATI: After two new COVID-19 cases were detected in Guwahati on Monday, Assam health minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma asked the residents of the city to become cautious and adhere to all the protocols to fight COVID-19 pandemic.

“Since detection of Manish Tibrewal, the first COVID-19 positive patient in the city, we have detected a few more positive cases in the city with no travel history. So, there may be traces of the virus in the city, which demands that the people of the city must be very cautious,” Dr Sarma said.

On Monday, two new cases were found in Guwahati. Mungru Sahani, a worker at a potato godown at Fancy Bazar and a patient at Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) tested COVID-19 positive.

Meanwhile, Kamrup (Metro) district administration has declared M S Road in Fancy Bazar area as a containment zone.

The administration has traced several contacts of the patient.
