GUWAHATI: Assam health minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma has rejected chief secretary Kumar Sanjay Krishna’s direction to open the production units of bread, biscuits, packaged water, rice mills, chira mills and flour mills during the 21-day nationwide lockdown.

The direction was issued after the daily meeting of state level task force under the chairmanship of Assam chief secretary Kumar Sanjay Krishna on Saturday.

The chief secretary directed that the production units of bread, biscuits, packaged water, rice mills, chira mills and flour mills will continue production with minimum staff maintaining social distance.

Speaking to News Live chief managing editor Syed Zarir Hussain during his show ‘Prekhyapat’, minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma said that opening of these production units cannot be allowed as they are not necessary.

“People keep silent when the enemy is visible. But they do not care when the enemy is invincible,” said Dr. Sarma
