GUWAHATI: Assam health, finance and education minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma reacted to Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh’s (JMB) death threat to minister Sarma, Assam Tourism Development Corporation chairman Jayanta Malla Baruah and Deka Sattradhikar of Moinbari Satra Apurba Adhikary.

“JMB will give threats. Their threats will remain in their place. But we will continue our works,” Dr. Sarma said in Kokrajhar today.

On January 5, Deka Sattradhikar of Moinbari Sattra received a letter at the entrance of his residence from one Jeherul Islam on behalf of Assam unit of JMB. The letter threatens to kill Deka Sattradhikar Apurba Adhikary, Assam health, finance and education minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma and Assam Tourism Development Corporation chairman Jayanta Malla Baruah.

“We have filed an FIR at Sorbhog police station after receiving the letter. The letter termed us as enemies of Islam and threatened with dire consequences. It also asked me not to disclose the letter,” said Deka Sattradhikar Apurba Adhikary.
