Himanta Biswa Sarma checks food quality and meets parents of Kota Students

Guwahati: Assam Health Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday night visited Sarusajai Quarantine facility to inspect about the food quality and other essentials that have been provided to 391 Quarantined Students who were brought from Kota, Rajasthan.

Dr. Sarma also assured the parents that the government will provide the best care for their children and thanked them for their cooperation.

This was informed by Dr. Sarma himself through his official twitter handle.

“To check on the food quality, meet parents & students, last night visited Sarusaji Sports Complex where 391 students, who have come back from Kota, have been put on a quarantine. Assured parents of best care of our children and thanked them for their cooperation.”

On Monday at around 3 AM, 391 students of Assam arrived in Guwahati from Kota, Rajasthan and each one of them has been quarantined now at Sarusajai.

Assam Health Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma and his Deputy Pijush Hazarika received the students at the Sarusajai quarantine facility in the city after they arrived by 18 buses.

The boys are kept in Sarusajai Stadium and the girls are kept at Bhargav Grand Hotel, Hotel Parshuram and Royal Heritage Hotel.

Quarantine has been made mandatory as the students came back from Rajasthan which has been categorised as a COVID-19 ‘Red Zone’ and moreover, there is also the possibility of contracting the disease during the journey.

The first swab test of the students will be conducted today and after going through the reports of the first swab the doctors will decide whether those testing negative can be discharged after 5 days, 14 days or 28 days.

Earlier Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma spoke to these Assam students who were stranded in Kota, Rajasthan through video conferencing and assured them that the Assam Government will do the needful. And to that the Assam Government didn’t disappoint them.

Later, Assam Government requested the authorities of Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and West Bengal to allow their movement during the ongoing lockdown period.
