Himanta Biswa Sarma, 8th Cottonian to be Assam CM

GUWAHATI: BJP strongman in Northeast Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma is set to be the next chief minister of Assam.

Dr Sarma who was a former general secretary of Cotton College Union Society (CCUS) is the eight Assam chief minister to study at this prestigious institution.

After his matriculation from Kamrup Academy in Guwahati, Dr Sarma joined Arts stream of Cotton College in 1985. Dr Sarma studied at this prestigious institution of the region from higher secondary to post-graduation. (This story published on www.newslivetv.com)

The other Cottonians who adorned the post of chief minister of Assam were – Syed Muhammad Saadulla, Gopinath Bordoloi, Mahendra Mohan Chowdhury, Sarat Chandra Singha, Jogen Hazarika, Hiteswar Saikia and Dr Bhumidhar Barman.
