Hima Das joins Assam Police as DSP


GUWAHATI: International athlete Hima Das got appointment letter as Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) from Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal at a function in Guwahati on Friday.

Hima was sworn in as the DSP in the presence of CM Sonowal, Assam DGP Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta, Chief Secretary Jishnu Barua and a host of other dignitaries.

“It has been my dream to become a police officer since my school days. My mother taught me to dream this,” said the ace sprinter.

In her speech, Hima expressed her gratitude to Chief Minister Sonowal, Finance Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma and other members of the Assam cabinet for honouring her with the post in Assam Police.

Along with Hima Das, 597 Sub-Inspectors were appointed at the same function held at Nabin Chandra Bordoloi Inddor Stadium of Sarusajai Sports Complex.

On the other hand, ‘Dhing Express’ Hima urged the newly-recruited officers to give due importance to games and sports.
