Heavy Rain to Lash Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal in coming days: IMD

PUBLISHED:

Guwahati: Scattered rain and thunderstorms has been forecast over Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura for the next five days.

Arunachal Pradesh will experience similar weather on Friday and Saturday (August 26-27).

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow watch over the entire northeastern region for Tuesday, Friday, and Saturday.

Residents are urged to “be aware” of the local weather conditions, said the official.

The main cause of the rain spell is mainly by two meteorological systems, the monsoon trough and a cyclonic circulation that’s currently active in the Bay of Bengal.

Later, the cyclonic circulation is expected to slowly move westwards, and gradually hold the eastern and central states in its wet grasp by Wednesday and Thursday (August 24-25).
