GUWAHATI:  After nearly five months, the gyms in Assam have been reopened from Monday according to the new guidelines issued by the Assam government during Unlock 3. The gyms have been opened in the state following COVID-19 protocols directed by the government.

“Many of us had to face lot of problems. There were financial and mental impacts,” said renowned bodybuilder Mahadev Deka as he opened his gyms on Monday.

“Today we are feeling happy. We faced a lot of financial problems in last five months,” said a gym owner in Guwahati.

On the other hand, offices in the state have resumed functioning with 100 per cent employees from today.

The health department has arranged COVID-19 tests for the employees of Assam secretariat.

“Coronavirus is a new problem for all of us. But we have to tackle it. We must remain alert and take precautions,” said a secretariat employee.

However, another employee expressed his dissatisfaction due to the non-availability of the city buses.

Meanwhile, the owners of the private buses in the city have demanded to allow the operation of the city buses as the owners as well as drivers and conductors are going through financial hardship.
