GUWAHATI: The Assam Police on Saturday arrested a woman drug peddler from Paltan Bazar area of Guwahati and seized drugs worth Rs. 20 lakh.
On Saturday morning the Paltan Bazar Police received a tip-off about an unexpected drug delivery by a woman near the Bata Showroom in Paltan Bazar. The police laid a trap and nabbed the lady along with Brown Sugar worth ₹ 20 lakh.
The woman peddler has been identified as Velazolu alias Asalii (32) of Kohima, Nagaland.
The police recovered around 270 gm of Brown Sugar packed in 19 soap cases from the lady.
According to police sources the lady bought the Brown Sugar from Dimapur to Guwahati to sell it across the state.
The Assam Police is interrogating the woman for further details about the drug racket she is a part of.
It may be noted that Guwahati has become the corridor for trading drugs from the Northeast to the international market.
