Guwahati: Thousands attend BJP mega rally

GUWAHATI: Thousands of Bharatiya Janata Party workers attended the mega rally of BJP booth presidents, elected representatives and workers held today at Assam Veterinary College playground at Khanapara , Guwahati.

BJP working president JP Nadda, CM Sarbananda Sonowal, health and finance minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma and state BJP president Ranjeet Kumar Dass along with senior ministers and party functionaries attended the mega convention where around 90 thousand party workers participated.

Addressing the party workers, state BJP president Ranjeet Kumar Dass announced a plethora of programmes starting from January 7 at the booth level.

“From January 7, every booth committee will organise Sampark Abhiyaan to connect with the people of the state,” Dass stated.

Dass also announced that peace and progress rallies would take place in Biswanath Chariali and Dhemaji on January 7 and 8 respectively.

The other mass contact drives that the state BJP president mentioned in his speech include:

  1. Yuba Sampark Abhiyaan on January 12
  2. Silpi Divas on January 17 on the occasion of death anniversary of Assamese cultural doyen Jyotiprasad Agarwala
  3. Republic Day celebrations on January 26
  4. A special programme for women titled as ‘Aaideur Buloni’ on January 28.
