Guwahati: The Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) has proposed to rename Kalapahar and Sarab Bhatti on Wednesday.
Guwahati Municipal Corporation Mayor Mrigen Sarania said that two areas of Guwahati – Kalapahar and Sarab Bhatti would be renamed as Nilachal Nagar and Arya Nagar respectively.
The Corporation has also decided to rename more six roads in Guwahati.
Sharing the details, the Mayor said the Ulubari-Kachari Basti connecting road would now be known as Bathao Mandir Road and The BK Kakati No 1 By-Lane would be renamed as Pabitra road.
The Ulubari-Rehabari connecting road would be known as the Bhaba road.
Sarania also informed that name of S S Road connecting Fancy Bazar and Lakhtokia would also be changed.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma had earlier said that the government would change the names of places and villages that were not in sync with the culture and tradition of the state.
