GUWAHATI: In an alarming development, Guwahati has reported 203 new COVID-19 positive cases in single day. Assam health minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma stated in his tweet that among the 273 new COVID-19 cases reported in Assam on Friday, 203 cases are from Guwahati.
Sharing the information Dr. Sarma urged the citizens to follow lockdown rules.
“Guwahati city alone sees a surge of 203 cases today and time for us to follow lockdown instructions. Your cooperation is vital,” he writes on Twitter.

Lockdown will begin in Guwahati from Sunday night till July 12. The government has decided to re-impose lockdown in the areas falling under Kamrup Metropolitan district sensing the gravity of the situation as the city continues to be the hotspot of COVID-19 cases.
