Guwahati: Rave drugs party busted in Kharguli, many arrested

GUWAHATI: The Guwahati Police raided a rave drugs party in Kharguli area, near Don Bosco Institute on Friday night and arrested 17 people. However, many managed to escape the raid. As per reports the party was organised at the third floor of Kharguli Riviera Apartments in the residence of businessman Vikash Jain. The occasion was to celebrate the birthday of one Amit Baruah and had drugs and alcohol. A case has been registered at the Latasil Police Station. The participants were from affluent families, said sources. Local residents have demanded strict action against the offenders who broke COVID19 protocol.

Assam chief minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma informed through his twitter handle that the Guwahati Police was raiding a drugs party at Kharguli. The tweet mentioned that different types of weed(ganja) and some cocaine was recovered from the scene.

Also, briefing media persons in Guwahati on Saturday, Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma said that people should stop using drugs and those involved in the narcotics trade should not operate in Assam as it would result in strict punishment. The chief minister also informed that banned drugs are being seized every day and recently a consignment of around 2 kilos of heroin was seized in Karbi Anglong worth 3 crore in the international market.
