GUWAHATI: Railway Police allegedly loot 1 kg gold from passenger

Guwahati: In a shocking incident three Government Railway Police Force(GRPF) personnel allegedly looted one kilo gold from a businessman who was traveling in Rajdhani Express from Guwahati to Faridabad on 17th January.

The incident came into light when the businessman identified as Suresh Kumar lodged a complaint against the three railway police officials in Guwahati railway police station.

According to the complaint, three men dressed as railway police personnel were on a routine check in the train when they got hold of Suresh and found 1 kg gold biscuits on him. The men charged him of smuggling and tried to arrest him. During the altercation the train started moving and the railway police personnel left the train allegedly taking Suresh’s 1kg gold with them.

The incident took place on January 17 but the GRP of Guwahati Railway Station tried to hide the matter. The complaint was finally lodged on January 30. Meanwhile, higher authorities have announced an investigation into the robbery case. The railway police have not been able to identify the culprits.
