Guwahati priest found dead in Paltan Bazar, investigation umnderway

Guwahati: Guwahati registers its 7th murder case in a span of 2 months after a body of man was recovered from the Paltan Bazar area. 

In yet another shocking incident a heinous crime was reported from Paltan Bazar area, in Guwahati on Thursday night.

A body of a man was recovered in a residential area in the city.

The deceased have been identified as Narayan Chakraborty. Chakraborty was allegedly murdered in a residential area at Kalibari Railway colony.

Chakraborty was the priest of Kalibari Kali Temple.

There were visible wound wounds were spotted on the body of the deceased. The perpetrators of the crime are yet to be identified.

As per initial reports, Narayan Chakraborty was called by his friend Sanjiv Chaudhary a railway employee, who lives in the quarter. Chaudhary reportedly asked to look after his house while he was gone to celebrate Chhath Puja. Locals have claimed that both Sanjiv and Narayan were close friends.

However, an investigation by Guwahati Police, and CID, Assam is underway.

A few days ago another murder was also reported from Guwahati’s Khanapara area. A chopped body of a woman was recovered from a drain underneath the Khanapara flyover. The incident has sent shockwaves across the area.

Earlier, an elderly couple were murdered at their residence in Chandan Nagar area Survey, Guwahati. The couple was allegedly brutally murdered by robbers who barged into their house on the night of October 25. The husband-wife pair has been identified as Noni Gopal Baruah (86) and Mina Baruah (76).
