Guwahati police arrest two in Dhirenpara Dacoity Case

Guwahati: In a major development to the Dhirenpara dacoity case, the city police have arrested two persons in connection to the incident on Wednesday evening.

During the investigation, different persons have been examined and after due interrogation, the two persons have been arrested in connection with the dacoity case. 

The two arrest persons has been identified as Ganesh Das and Md. Omar Ali.

The city police have also informed that the description of the arrested accused persons has matched with the description provided by the victims.

During the investigation, it has been revealed that the Renault Duster vehicle bearing registration number AS01-DJ-9604, which was used by the accused persons was also recovered at the Place of Occurrence, which belongs to accused Ganesh Das.

Further, leads have emerged from the investigation and are being pursued rigorously to nab the other culprits.

It may be mentioned that the incident occurred when a group of six dacoits in a doctors’ vehicle approached a jewellery shop with criminal intent on October 5.

Reportedly, a group of six dacoits in a doctors’ vehicle executed the crime at the house of one Gautam Paul who was also the jewellery shop owner.

After entering the house, the dacoits bolted the door from inside and forced three women and a child to kneel. The accused robbed the valuables from the house.

Upon trying to stop the vehicle and dacoits from escaping, one Liton Majumder was injured after the dacoits opened fire at him in a bid to escape the spot.

Majumder has been admitted to the GMCH and Assam government has decided to look after his treatment process and medical expenses.
