GUWAHATI: With only two months left for Rongali Bihu, the organizers have started warming up for the festivities. On 31 January, organizers of Bihu committees from Guwahati had a meeting and decided to organize Bihu events across the city. Bihu committees across the city have been asked to celebrate accordingly with local artists and promote local handicrafts through their events.
On Tuesday, chairing a press meet at Guwahati Press Club, Ranjan Bora, president of Brihottor Guwahati Bihu Sanmilanor Samaboyrokkhi Samiti, and Prince Faizul Hoque, general secretary of the committee informed during the press meet.
It is to be noted that last year, no events were organized and only flags were hosted by the Bihu committees due to the COVID-19 pandemic across the country.
As the COVID-19 situation is normal now the ‘Brihottor Guwahati Bihu Sanmilanor Samaboyrokkhi Samity’ have asked all the Bihu committees to celebrate Rongali Bihu and organize events according to their financial capability. Also, they have asked to promote local artists, handicrafts, and local culture through the Bihu functions and have asked all to come forward and help the Bihu committees to organize the Bihu events.
