Guwahati: Man sells fake Assam Police appointment letter, arrested

Guwahati:  Dibyajyoti Das, a swindler who had collected lakhs of rupees from various people under the guise to give them a job in the Assam Police, was arrested by the crime branch of the Assam Police.

According to sources, Das gave a fake appointment letter to a youth named Pegu from Lakhimpur for a post in Assam Police by taking Rs. 3 lakh from him.

The incident came to light when the victim, Pegu, went to the DIG office with the appointment letter intending to join the job. The police officials immediately informed Pegu that the appointment letter was a fake one.

The victim lodged a complaint with the Crime Branch of Assam Police in connection with the incident.

On the basis of the complaint, the crime branch of the Assam police filed a complaint and arrested the accused Das at Nanai Lamati in Nagaon.

The crime branch took him into custody for four days after which he was produced in court on Friday.

Das a serial offender already has multiple cases registered against him.
