Guwahati, Jan 11: A man was seriously injured in Maligaon area of Guwahati after he was attacked by a leopard today.
The man identified as Kumar Chetri was attacked by the leopard when he went to collect firewood at around 7 a.m.
Though Chetri, a resident of Dal Basti, Madhav Nagar area of Maligaon sustained serious injuries in his face, he somehow escaped from the clutches of the leopard. Later, he was admitted to a nearby hospital for treatment.
It needs to be mentioned that human-animal conflict has taken a serious turn in many parts of Guwahati. Shrinking of forest cover has compelled the wildlife to stray into the city creating panic among the denizens.
