Guwahati: Lady professor hit by scooter, ran over by truck in Khanapara, dies

Guwahati: In a tragic accident a lady professor was killed in a road mishap on Thursday evening in Guwahati.

The deceased has been identified as Dr. Runjun Duarah who was an Assistant professor of Animal Nutrition Department, College of Veterinary Science, Assam Agricultural University, Khanapara.

According to reports, Dr.  Duarah was riding her scooty when she was hit by a scooter. As she fell down, a truck carrying LPG cylinders coming from Khanapara direction ran over her. 

The incident happened when she was on her way after buying baby food for her eight-month-old child. She was immediately rushed to GNRC Hospitals, but was declared brought dead.

“I have no words. She is from our department. Around 5 PM she went out to buy baby food for her eight-month-old child. As she was returning from the shop she was hit by a scooter near Shani mandir Dairy Gate, Khanapara. As she fell down, a truck carrying LPG cylinders coming from Khanapara direction ran over her.  She was taken to GNRC Hospitals by the police. We received the information and reached GNRC Hospitals. She was from Majkhowa, Dhemaji. Her husband Dr. Vijay Shekhar who lives in Warrangal, Hyderabad has been informed. She was a bright researcher and a good teacher,” said her colleague.
