Guwahati, Dec 20: Authorities in Guwahati have directed various departments to assess the loss of public property in the city, post recent violence and vandalism.
Notices have been sent to various departments including Public Works Department (PWD), Guwahati Municipal Corporation, Assam Power Distribution Corporation Limited, Police, Fire and Emergency services seeking detailed report on damages of public property.
Though the departments have not filed any report yet, the Public Works Department informed that the violence and vandalism had caused Rs 1.16 crore (estimated) loss to the department. Meanwhile, Guwahati Municipal Corporation reportedly incurred loss of property worth Rs 1.25 lakh (estimated) due to the hooliganism by the miscreants.
