In a shocking incident, a body of a woman has been recovered in Guwahati’s Bamunimaidam on Wednesday morning.
According to reports, the body was found stuffed inside a gunny sack and left behind on the side of the road at Bhaskar Nagar, Bamunimaidan.
A team of police rushed to the spot after receiving information about the incident.
The deceased has been identified as Mofida Begum.
Officials further informed that Mofida’s husband, Altaf Ali and her two children has been missing after the incident came to light.
Locals claimed that on hearing a hue and cry of the people following the recovery of the body, the husband along with his two children fled from the spot at around 7 am.
The body was sent to a hospital for post-mortem.
Police have registered a case and have initiated an investigation into the matter.
