GUWAHATI: Preparations are almost complete for the third edition of Khelo India Youth Games to be held in Guwahati.
Plans are to showcase the rich culture of Assam in the inaugural ceremony on 10th January that is scheduled to take place in Sarusajai Stadium, Guwahati. Shankar Mahadevan will also perform in the launch event.
The organisers are taking necessary steps so that senior citizens and Divyangs can also enjoy the games.
Almost 6500 athletes from 37 teams are expected to take part in the event.
On 28 December 2019, Assam CM announced the decision to provide incentives to all the sportspersons of Assam who would bag medals in the event. He said that Gold medal winners will receive a reward of Rs 1,00,000 and Rs 75,000 and Rs 50,000 for the silver and bronze winners respectively.

As many as 50,000 spectators will be able to enjoy different sports daily in the upcoming event.
The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports have published the schedule for the third edition of Khelo India Youth Games. The match has been scheduled from 10th January to 22nd January in different venues in Guwahati.
Archery, Cycling and Kabaddi will take place in (LNIP)Lakshmibai National Institue of Physical Education located in Tepesia area, Sonapur, Guwahati.
Athletics, Kho-Kho, Wrestling and Lawn Bowl matches have been scheduled to take place in (SSC)Sarusajai Sports Complex.
Badminton and Table-Tennis matches will take place in DTRP, Nehru Stadium.
Basketball and Volleyball matches have been scheduled in Nabin Chandra Bordoloi Indoor Hall,(SSC)Sarusajai Sports Complex.
Boxing, Football and Judo matches have been scheduled in SAI center, Paltanbazar.
Gymnastics and Weightlifting will take place in the Bhogeshwari Phuknani Indoor stadium, Dispur.
The hockey matches will be played in Maulana Md. Tayabulla Hockey Stadium.
Shooting will take place in Kahilipara Shooting Ranges.
Swimming will take place in the Aquatic Centre, (SSC)Sarusajai Sports Complex.
