GUWAHATI: Assam CM Sarbananda Sonowal in a review meeting of the Guwahati Development Department (GDD) in Janata Bhawan on Tuesday stated that altogether 55 thousand households of Guwahati will receive clean drinking water by December 2020.
The first phase of the scheme will be launched by CM Sonowal himself on March 15.
Sonowal also directed the department to cover all the people living in Guwahati city under the water supply scheme.
Siddhartha Bhattacharyya, Cabinet Minister of Law and Justice, Cooperation and GDD, Santanu Bharali, Legal Adviser to CM, Chief Secretary, Kumar Sanjay Krishna, Guwahati Development Department, Chief Secretary Manindar Singh, Sanjay Lohiya, Principal Secretary to CM, were present in the meeting.
The CM further urged officials to work on providing pure drinking water to 55,000 families by Dec 2020 under Guwahati Water Supply Project.
Officials were directed to complete provision of drinking water supply to 1,000 households of the city by 15 March in the 1st phase.
