Guwahati COVID19: Midland Hospital sealed off, staff on quarantine

GUWAHATI: Kamrup (Metro) district administration sealed off Midland Hospital in Guwahati where the city’s first COVID19 patient Manish Tibrewal had undergone treatment for Asthma between March 12 to 14. According to the reports, he visited the hospital on March 12, 13 and 14 for nebulization.

Tibrewal tested COVID19 positive on April 3. Following that, Kamrup (M) administration sealed off Midland Hospital in Christian Basti area on Sunday. The health department also quarantined six hospital staff, including doctors, nurses, receptionist and accountant who were in direct contact with Tibrewal. Three among them tested negative while results of remaining staff are awaited.

According to the reports, Tibrewal is a resident of flat number 704, D block in Spanish Garden. He had returned from Delhi on March 1. Tibrewal had no symptoms since his return to Guwahati, till 28 days later. He is now being treated at Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH).

On the other hand, city businessman Gurpreet Singh Uppal, one of the close associates of Manish Tibrewal revealed on Social Media that he had met Tibrewal in the first week of March. Gurpreet Singh Uppal and his family kept themselves on home quarantine since March 24. They are now at quarantine centre in Birubari area of Guwahati. However, no Coronavirus symptoms have been noticed in Gurpreet Singh Uppal and his family members.
