Govt to provide pulse oximeter, supportive medicine to COVID-19 patients in home isolation in Guwahati

GUWAHATI: From Monday, the Assam government will provide a pulse oximeter and first-line supportive medicine completely free to the COVID-19 patients preferring to stay in home isolation in Guwahati. Tele medicine service through 104 is also made available for the patients.

Taking to Twitter, Assam health minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma announced, “From tomorrow, we will provide patient preferring to stay in home isolation a pulse oximeter and first-line supportive medicine completely free in Guwahati City. We have also activated the Tele Medicine service for them through 104. will expand it further to other places soon.”

The Assam government has been allowing asymptomatic COVID-19 patients in Guwahati to remain in home isolation under certain conditions. Under the standard operating procedure (SOP) set by the government, a patient in home isolation must have access to an oximeter besides other requirements like-a private doctor, self-transfer facility to Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) in case of emergency, no complaint from the neighbourhood, separate toilet, a written undertaking etc.
