This passionate man used to work in MNCs and had made a great career in the corporate world; however, the love and passion he felt for basketball made him understand his true purpose in life. He used to love the sport right since he was a kid in Jammu & Kashmir. Govinda kept honing his skills and worked around his talent more each day to become a pro athlete and basketball player. Getting an opportunity to go to Singapore to learn professional-level basketball further changed his mindset for the better, which helped boost his career.
Today, Govinda Sharma is a success story that other budding basketball players are looking up to. He is the one who promoted the variation of the sport with 3×3 basketball and hence became a world-renowned Indian basketball player and the first player to be FIBA 3×3 certified from India. Moreover, he has transitioned his life from being a basketball player to becoming a coach in India. He was the former coach to NBA Basketball School and now serves as a national-level coach. This allowed him to even become a brand ambassador of government initiatives like the Fit India Movement.
He is a young talent who owns multiple sports academics in Delhi, Noida, and Siliguri under the name KAGA Basketball Academy. Apart from that, Govinda Sharma, with his philanthropy initiative and NGO “Sab Khelo Sports Foundation”, has been helping specially-abled basketball players.
In the future, Govinda Sharma aims to launch FIBA 3×3 basketball league in the northeast to promote basketball. He is already training players in FIBA 3×3 basketball format & wants to promote it country-wide.
