Gohpur: Fake Indian currency notes seized, 3 held

GUWAHATI: Three persons have been detained in Gohpur by Assam Police for possession of fake Indian currency notes. The Helem police team recovered Fake Indian currency notes amounting to Rs. 3 lakh 39 thousand from them.

The three persons have been identified as Subash Rai, Robin Rai of Sikkim and Amit Thapa from Jalpaiguri. Assam Police arrested the trio from their rented house in Tokobari area.

“We have detained three people with suspected Fake Indian Currency Notes. They are linked with counterfeit currency note dealers. We received information that there was a clash between the two parties and after we reached they tried to flee the spot, but we captured them with the help of local people. We recovered a bag from their possession that contained the counterfeit notes,” said an Assam Police official.
