Gauhati University: Offline exams to be held when situation becomes normal

GUWAHATI: An urgent meeting of Gauhati University decided that all the postponed examinations will be held in offline mode when the COVID-19 situation returns to normal. The students will be informed 20 days prior to the examinations.

“The meeting discussed in detail about the nature of internet connectivity available to all  students (about 2.5 lakhs located in different remote areas as well and lack of suitable  electronic gadgets like laptop, smart phones etc), and it is decided that these examinations  will be held in the offline mode with 20 days prior notification after the situation reverts to  normalcy,” the university registrar said in a press release on Tuesday.

On the other hand, classes will be resumed in offline and online modes depending on the local situations.

“It is also decided that all classes of all semesters will be started from the 1st week of May  2021 in the offline and online modes as per feasibility depending on local situations in  

different places/ institutions,” the statement read.

The premier educational institution of the region has been closed from April 27 to May 11 due to spike in COVID-19 cases in Assam.
