Gauhati High Court to hear urgent cases through video conferencing

GUWAHATI: Amid extended nationwide lockdown in the view of COVID19 pandemic, the Gauhati High Court has decided to hear urgent cases through video conferencing. According to a notification issued by the registrar general of Gauhati High Court on April 15, only the cases of urgent nature will be taken up in the court rooms equipped with video conferencing facilities in the Principal Seat in Guwahati .

The move has been taken as a measure of social distancing between the advocates and the judges. The learned advocates can conduct their cases from the residences or the office of the principal seat. However, they will have to follow certain protocols.

All District Courts in Assam, Nagaland, Mizoram and Arunachal Pradesh working under the jurisdiction of the Gauhati High Court are also directed to make necessary arrangements of video conferencing facility in the similar manner.
