GUWAHATI, Feb 3: Mizoram Police have arrested four persons on charges of assaulting the attendant of a patient inside a hospital in Aizawl.
A video showing the four men — identified as Roderick Thangdingliana Renthlei, Lalduhawma Khawlhring, Lalsangzuala Ralte, and Abenego Lalrinawma — storming the hospital following a brawl with the attendant of a patient earlier in the day, and then assaulting the attendant, went viral on social media leading to shock and anger.
The shocking incident took place on Friday while the four accused were arrested yesterday (Feb 2) after video of the assault went viral on social media.
The four men, all residents of Aizawl, were arrested after the hospital’s medical superintendent filed a complaint with Vaivakawn Police Station.
Public anger has intensified, particularly after Renthlei, one of the accused, allegedly claimed on social media to be the son of a senior police officer.
In response, Home Minister K Sapdanga directed the police to fast-track the investigation and ensure strict action against the culprits.
